| Another awesome album (albeit two years old)! | | |
| Now, that's wack!
The NY Times has an article about the illegal practice of working folks off the clock by a wide range of businesses, from small salons to large corporate companies. Shame shame, it seems that respectable jobs are harder and harder to find for most people...Anyway, I think in the end it all comes back to me hating Walmart for , but please don't get me started about that...
| In the last two weeks, I managed to catch 2 movies in theatre. Last Friday, I watched "Sideways", a movie with Paul Giamatti and that blonde air-head from the show "Wings"! Haven't seen him in a while...

This movie was quite hilarious though I have to say that it echoed the same themes as "Swingers". This movie made me wanted to drink some wine and go wine-tasting.

Last night, I also watched "The Incredibles" which is the new Pixar movie. The computer animation in this movie is WILD!!! The story is also interesting and a bit mature compared to Finding Nemo and the Toy Story movies. I have to say though, one of the things I DID NOT care for was the "objectivist" undertones of the movie (i.e. Ayn Rand's philosophies of pretentiousness). (No offense to fans of Ayn Rand...I'm personally not much of a fan of objectivism...) But at face value, as interpreted as just a simple superhero movie, this movie is a lot of fun.
| In the midst of all that has been happening in the last few weeks, I have neglected to update my xanga again! Last weekend, I spent sunday canvassing for America Votes ( a non-profit coalition of grassroots organizations) in Claremont, New Hampshire. For those of you who are not familiar with canvassing, I went out door-to-door to talk to undecided voters (mainly democrats and independents) about voting in what was a very crucial election in a swing state such as theirs. We managed to talk to about 50 or so households in the course of one morning. It was quite a nice experience talking to people in their homes and briefly about their lives and their days leading up the elections! (Some people apparently were getting 4 or 5 phoen calls a night regarding the elections!) Though I was quite disappointed by the overall outcome of the election, I was happy that NH had swung for Kerry by a margin of 1%, as opposed to in 2000, when it swung for Bush by the same 1% margin. I felt so helpless as I watched Ohio go to Bush, wishing I could have done more, maybe even drive to Ohio to canvass in those key suburban areas for people to go out and vote. Anyway, nevertheless, canvassing in NH was not a waste of my time, as I got to see a part of the northeast that I had never seen before. I have to say that NH seems somewhat provincial and rural and somewhat poor. | | |
